Musical Monday – Footprints in the sand

Footprints in the sand
Also Known As “I Had a Dream”

One night I dreamed a dream. I was walking along the beach with my Lord.

Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life. For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand, one belonging to me and one to my Lord. When the last scene of my life shot before me I looked back at the footprints in the sand. There was only one set of footprints. I realized that this was at the lowest and saddest times of my life. This always bothered me and I questioned the Lord about my dilemma.

“Lord, You told me when I decided to follow You, You would walk and talk with me all the way. But I’m aware that during the most troublesome times of my life there is only one set of footprints. I just don’t understand why, when I need You most, You leave me.”

He whispered, “My precious child, I love you and will never leave you, never, ever, during your trials and testings. When you saw only one set of footprints, It was then that I carried you.

This is one of those forwards that affected me deeply and profoundly. I was reminded of this very very recently when I saw the movie Anjaana Anjaani and heard the song ‘Aas Paas Hai Khuda’.

Attached here is the female version of the same song. I never knew this existed until I heard it recently when it was playing in my manager’s car. I hunted for it on the Internet and here is what I found. The female voice is haunting, and touches the deepest corners of the heart.

Aas Paas Hai Khuda (Female voice included)

Lyrics follow:

Dhundhla Jaayein Jo Manzilein, Ik Pal Ko Tu Nazar Jhuka
Jhuk Jaaye Sar Jahan Wahi, Milta Hai Rab Ka Raasta

When your destination starts to fade, just lower your eyes a moment.
Wherever you bow your head, that’s God’s path

Teri Kismat Tu Badal De, Rakh Himmat Bus Chal De
Tere Saathi Mere Kadmon Ke Hain Nishaan

Change your destiny, Have faith and take the leap
My footprints shall always accompany yours.

Tu Na Jaane Aas Pass Hai Khuda – 6 Times
You are not aware that God is with you.

Khud Pe Daal Tu Nazar, Haalaaton Se Haar Kar, Kahan Chala Re
Haath Ki Lakeer Ko, Modhta Marodta, Hai Hausla Re

Look at yourself – Where are you headed to, in desperation?
Have hope, keep faith for faith can change the lines on your palm.

Toh Khud Tere Khwabon Ke Rang Mein, Tu Apne Jahan Ko Bhi Rang De
Ke Chalta Hoon Mein Tere Sang Mein, Ho Shaam Bhi Toh Kya

Jab Hoga Andhera, Tab Paayega Dar Mera, Uss Dar Pe Phir Hogi Teri Subah

So go ahead and colour your world with your dreams
Because I walk in step with you, even if its dusk.
When the night falls, you will find my doorway.
That doorway shall reveal to you, your new dawn.

Tu Na Jaane Aas Pass Hai Khuda – 4 Times
You are not aware that God is with you.

Mitt Jaate Hain Sabke Nishaan, Bas Ek Woh Mitt Ta Nahin Hai Haye
Maan Le Jo Har Mushkil Ko Marzi Meri Haye

Everybody has to perish, except Him,
He is eternal – who accepts every travail as my will.

Ho Humsafar Na Tera Jab Koi, Tu Ho Jahan Rahunga Mein Wahi
Tujhse Kabhi Na Ik Pal Bhi Mein Judaa

When you find yourself without a partner, I shall stay where you do,
Even for a moment, I am never away for you.

Tu Na Jaane Aas Pass Hai Khuda – 8 Times
You are not aware that God is with you.

  1. A very cute story indeed…
Its my favorite song which makes me so strong at times when i am almost falling in life. It brings a belief within that we are never alone but is always surrounded by an invisible power walking all the time along with us. 🙂
    Take care !!
